Mar Menor golf course - Murcia Spain

Mar Menor Golf Course is located near the town of Torre Pacheco in Murcia on the Costa Calida, Spain. The golf course was opened in 2005 as part of Jack Nicklas golf trail, built and operated by Polaris World.

Mar Menor golf course design

Mar Menor golf course is a par 72, approximately 6,153 meters in length. The course design gives the golfer two different experiences. The first nine holes were designed by David Thomas to be a par 37, 3,275 meters in length.

The fairways have hardly any rough but the greens are well protected with strategically placed bunkers and lakes which challenges the golfer to make good strokes to put the ball on the green.

The second nine holes were designed by Jack Nicklaus to be a par 35, 2,878 meters in length. The course is wide with roughs that allow big strokes. Holes 13, 14 and 15 are surrounded by a spectacular lake making this water hazard the greatest obstacle to be overcome. The other holes are protected by strategically placed bunkers.

The golf course isn’t a difficult course. It's combination of water hazards, bunkers, and the strategic placement of greens and trees, make it a fun challenge for low handicappers. Some water feature holes demand accurate play, to return a good score card.

Opened in 2006 it is a fantastic hotel with all the modern amenities and free Wi-Fi available throughout the establishment. The hotel has 63 rooms with private balcony that overlook the golf course or the hotel's outdoor pool. All the rooms have heating, AC Televisions, and a walk-in shower.

Mar Menor discount green fees and twilight hours

Green fees prices vary throughout the year. If you are flexible with your tee-off times, discount twilight prices are considerable lower. During the winter months twilight hours start from 14:00 and from 15:00 during the summer months

Europe's biggest salt water lagoon

The Mar Menor golf course village is only 8 miles from the Mar Menor, which is Europe's biggest salt water lagoon. The lagoon is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by La Manga which is a strip of land 22km long.

The lagoon's average depth is 4 meters with a maximum depth of only 7 meters. This means the seabed slopes very gradually and you have to get several hundred meters into the sea before the water is of any depth.
